REIGNITE HEROES is an initiative focused on raising awareness and bringing understanding to the invisible struggles that military service members, veterans, and their families face as a result of protecting our nation, defending our freedom, and when returning home from battle.

Fighting the problem of
Moral Injury

  • Moral Injury [MI] is a Soul Wound resulting from a traumatic violation and transgression of deeply held, personal moral values. It is characterized by feelings of anger, guilt, shame, disorientation, & disgust within the individual.
  • Moral Injury can be a consequence of a betrayal by legitimate authority that breaks your moral compass.
  • An estimated 50-65% of active-duty U.S. service members have experienced some degree of MI.
  • As many as 59% of Active-Duty Military tested with PTSD had 5 or more severe MI symptoms.

Fighting the Problem of PTSD

  • 14%-18% of Veterans suffer from PTSD. Less than 50% with PTSD seek help, mostly out of fear of being stigmatized.
  • 15% of OIF & OEF (Operation Iraqi Freedom & Operation Enduring Freedom) Service Era Veterans suffer from PTSD in the Past Year & 29% will suffer from PTSD at Some Point in Life
  • Female Veterans are 2Xs more likely to suffer from PTSD.

Fighting the
problem of Suicide

  • 22 veterans commit suicide daily in the United States
  • Over the past three years the number of active-duty suicides is up 25%.
  • Military suicide rates are four times higher than deaths that occurred during military operations.
  • 30,177 active-duty personnel and veterans who served in the military after 9/11 have died by suicide - compared to the 7,057 service members killed in combat in those same 20 years.
